6 months of crazy!

Snack time!
It is hard to believe that Avery is 6 months old already!  Excuse the lack of very recent pictures - my laptop is out of commission right now, and these were all I had uploaded before it died!  Maybe I'll do a just pictures update once I get it working again.  Since it seems to take me a month+ to get written updates!  Evelyn had her last day of preschool for the year last week.  She is going to miss it!  She asks to go to school to see her friends almost every day!  She tells me that her best friend is her teacher, Miss Sue!  Evelyn will be going to a summer-camp-preschool over the summer (I think I would have lost my mind with her home every day all summer!) but then back to Asbury in the fall!  We love it!  Evelyn is talking up a storm, and she usually speaks pretty well.  We're working on "Yes ma'am" and "Yes sir" instead of "Yep!" and "Yeah!" and "Please" instead of "I NEED THAT!", but she generally does well!  I'm trying to remember to make a list of my favorite sayings, and right now those are "jelly butter sammich" for a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, and "soo-paper" for newspaper.  Every morning she has to go get the "soo-paper" from the end of the driveway!

Post-nap snuggles
He is so happy!
Avery is a whole 6 months old! (Actually closer to 6 1/2 now!) At his check-up last week, he was almost 16 pounds and 24 inches.  He is in the 15th percentile for weight, 50th for height, and his height for weight is 45%.  Not too shabby!  Just for comparison, Evelyn was also 24 inches at 6 months, but she weighed 17+ pounds and was 95th percentile or higher for everything!  They are complete opposites!  But Avery is growing right on target, and meeting all his milestones! He is rolling around and starting to scoot.  He loves to be up on his feet instead of laying down!  He still loves the johnny jump-up!  He gets worn alot, mostly because it's easier to chase Evelyn outside when he's strapped to me, but he seems to enjoy being up at my level looking around.  He is sleeping great - 10-12 hours most nights!  Woo hoo!  Carl is glad, he's the one that has been getting up with him!  Haha!

Checking out the Pullen Park Train

"Take shower outside!"
It seems that summer has finally arrived here.  Luckily it hasn't been TOO hot yet, but I think the heat is coming!  Last weekend we filled up the inflatable pool.  The water was FREEZING and never really warmed up despite a week of sunny days, but that didn't stop Evelyn from wanting to swim 3 times a day or more!  She loved getting the hose out too, as you can see!  Avery wanted nothing to do with it though.  I tried to get his feet wet a few times and he let me know very quickly he was done!  The one time I put him all the way in his floatie, he screamed until I got him out and dried off!

Happy boy!
Pigtails! Playing with mommy's phone!
The kids have been doing very well, they really are great kids! But I have been struggling alot.  I debated saying anything on here, but I decided to for two reasons - one, I don't want to look back at this later and wonder why I totally left something so big out, and two, I have had quite a few people tell me I make things look so easy, so good, and that is clearly not the case.  I have been having a hard time since Avery was born.  For a long time, I blamed it on not enough sleep, too many hormones, a crazy 2 year old, anything I could.  It took me almost 6 months, but I realized it was me.  Luckily there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and things are starting to get better.  Carl is an amazing father and husband who I could not live without.  He has been so supportive and helpful to me!  I just hope I can reciprocate!!  :)  It has been so hard for me to motivate myself to do much of anything. I have been so exhausted for months - even though I generally sleep pretty well and 8-10 hrs a night!  It takes all my energy to chase the kids around and make dinner and occasionally get out of the door for Evelyn's preschool or gym class.  I haven't been able to sew or quilt, bake for fun, help out my friends who have had babies recently, read a book, or anything extra with the kids.  So hopefully I'll be back to myself soon!
