This week has been pretty uneventful. Everything's going well, and aside from being SO tired and still not being able to sleep, I feel pretty good too! I haven't really yet, but I think Baby Girl's getting strong enough that soon we'll be able to feel her kick on the outside. I tried to get Carl to feel her little flutters, but he didn't really notice. They are still really little. It's all good though!
I am super excited to use cloth diapers once the baby comes. It's something I've been looking into for years, so I kind of knew what I wanted to do. I've bought a TON of diapers so far, lots of different styles and brands, because you never know what will work well until you try them on the baby! Cloth diapers have evolved quite a bit since we were babies too. There are so many options, and alot of them aren't too different from disposibles - aside from that whole chemicals on my baby's skin and tons of pollution thing!
However, I decided that when Baby Girl is really little, we're going the old fashioned route with the flat, "pre-fold" diapers. They're called pre-folds because the center section is already layered. Don't worry, there will be no diaper pins or plastic pants on Baby Girl. There are new fasteners and super cute covers that make it cute and easier.
Anyways, one thing with cloth diapers is that you have to "prep" them so they'll be absorbant enough. The difference before and after is amazing. Here's what 4 dozen cloth diapers looks like straight out of the box. Flat and thin. Doesn't look like they'll absorb much at all!

And then I washed and dried them lots. 5 times lots. Every time, they get more absorbant. And every time they looked softer and more quilty. The amount of lint coming off of these things is crazy! I emptied the lint trap during the first cycle after about 20 minutes and it was already full! And it was full again at the end of the cycle! By the 5th wash, there wasn't much lint at all, so I figured I was good.
And here's what they look like after 5 washes! So thick and soft. Aaahhhh... I can't wait to use them!
So there, I'm done being a nerd about cloth diapers. :) For now anyways!
I haven't taken a picture yet this week, maybe on the weekend. But Baby Girl is definitely getting bigger!!
