Busy Girl!

Since her birthday, Evelyn has been pretty busy!  She's always on the move, and never wants to stay still for long.  She is walking so well now.  She's a little cautious about walking on uneven surfaces (the mulch in the back yard especially), but other than that she practically runs everywhere!
Trying out the slide - Head first!

A couple of weeks ago, she walked from our garage, all the way down the driveway, across the cul-de-sac and up the neighbor's driveway to see their girls.  Hannah and Sarah are quite a bit older (8 and 11 I think), and Hannah comes over once a week to play with Evelyn while I get stuff done around the house.  Every time Evelyn sees Hannah or Sarah, she wants to go play.  It's very funny!
My sweet girl

Evelyn loves to read.  She is always bringing me books to read her.  When she is quiet in her room, she is almost always looking through books.  Even if she is walking around, playing with something else, if I start reading, she comes over to me and sits in my lap.  It's very sweet!  I love that she enjoys books so much already.  I hope that she'll love reading as much as I do!

Evelyn doesn't watch much TV, but when she does, it's Baby Signing Time DVDs.  She doesn't really like any other baby/preschool shows.  But Baby Signing Time - she is crazy for it!  She will sign a little bit, but not much really.  "More", "All done", "Hi!"/"Bye!" and "Eat", and sometimes she will sign "Signing Time".  She sits down in her chair and thinks that we'll automatically turn it on for her.  Haha!  Last weekend, while I was at work, it rained ALL day.  I felt bad for Carl because Evelyn LOVES being outside and alot of time is only happy if she can play outside.  I asked what they did that rainy day, and Carl said "We watched alot of  Baby Signing Time." When I came home, Evelyn just started signing AND saying "hat!  hat!"  It was very funny.

Evelyn is not a very good teether.   She gets mad and unhappy and it takes me all day to figure out what's going on, then Carl comes home and says "I think her teeth are bothering her".  And I have a "DUH!" moment.  Or maybe I'm just not a very good mom.  ;)  Anyways, on top of not being a very good teether, Evelyn has some funky teeth that make it even worse.  In January, we noticed one of her front teeth seemed like it was coming in crooked.  In February, we noticed that the one next to it was coming down at the same time.  Ok, so that's why she's so mad.  Later in February, it got so bad we went to the pediatrician.  She recommended we go to the dentist.  In the couple of weeks between that appointment and the dentist, it looked like the teeth were pushing into each other.  OUCH!  So then we go to the dentist.  First of all, Evelyn hated it.  :(  I shouldn't have been surprised, but I was hoping she'd never been, she'd be okay.  The second they started poking around in her mouth, she was over it.  But the dentist said that those two teeth are FUSED together.  Meaning it's one giant tooth.  :( And that it could be 3 teeth.  And that it could be extra teeth, so the teeth that are supposed to be there might try to squeeze in too.  :( :( :(  My poor baby!  He said there's not much to do about it now, except monitor how they come in.  He'll do x-rays at some point to make sure that her permanent teeth are okay, and we'll go for check-ups every 3 months.  But for now, I'm buying motrin just about every time I go to the grocery store.  I can't wait for these teeth to be in so I can have my happy-all-the time baby back!  I just hope this is it for the funky teeth.  Extra teeth, I can deal with.  Fused teeth - OUCH!

We also went to the pediatrician for her 1 year check up.  Evelyn had to get blood drawn and 3 shots, so she was not very happy (neither was I!)  But she is 23 pounds and 29 1/2 inches tall!  She has been so healthy this year.  We are so lucky.  She has never really been sick (just the sniffles for a few days), never had a problem at all really!

Celebrating Papa's 79th birthday!
