Where did this smart child come from?

It is so much fun to watch Evelyn learn so quickly.  She is so smart and it just amazes me!  This evening, I gave her a big hug and said "I love you!"  Every so often (but not frequently), I sign "I Love You!"  It's hard for a toddler to sign, because your thumb, pointer and pinky are up, but your middle and ring fingers are curled down.  Today, any time I tell Evelyn "I love you!", she has signed her version of it, with her thumb and pointer up, and she's working hard to try to get that pinky up!  It's so cute!  It totally melts my heart!

She loves watching Dad mow the lawn!

Somehow, she has also learned parts of her face.  It's not something that we talk about often, I don't really point out her nose, ears, mouth, or eyes, but I guess we talk about it enough in normal conversation or read in books.  Today I said "I'm gonna get your nose!" and she pointed to her nose.  Actually, she started picking her nose.  Close enough.  ;)  I asked where here ears were and she grabbed her ear.  Mouth? Pointed to her mouth.  Eyes?  Patted her eyes.  I was absolutely amazed.  I had no clue she knew this stuff!  I'm sure there are more surprises to come!
My preppy girl.  All she needs is a pair of boat shoes!

In other news, Evelyn has not one, but two new teeth!  Both of her bottom teeth on either side of the middle came through at once.  No wonder she was teething so badly last week!  On top of that, they came through yesterday, on April Fools Day!  What a cruel joke!  She seems to be doing alot better now, although she still wants to gnaw on my toes!  Yuck!

Evelyn also had her first sleepover this weekend!  Carl and I had plans Saturday night, and his parents didn't want to stay out too late, so they kept Evelyn overnight on Saturday.  She stayed up a little later than normal, but slept well and didn't wake up too early for them.  Overall it was a success!!  I don't do much sleeping in anymore, even on normal days I wake myself up before Evelyn makes a peep.  But we did get to enjoy a night out and then go to church without a noisy toddler!  Very nice!
