A Crafty Post

I got rid of my quilting blog a while back because I don't have very much time to quilt, therefore it sat idle for way too long.  However, I made something this morning that I want to show off!

We got portable DVD players to use in the car for road trips.  We have a couple coming up in the next few months, and with Evelyn wanting to be entertained more, she doesn't like just sitting in the car for long.  I'm hoping that a DVD player will get us through a few hours to Myrtle Beach and then almost 12 hours to Florida for our cruise.

I got a great deal on the older model of a great DVD player, so I was excited about that.  The last thing I wanted to do was spend MORE money for a decent bag or case.  So I decided to make one.  At first I thought I'd have to make a JoAnn's run, but nope I had everything I needed, even if I did have to scrap some stuff together!  I absolutely LOVE the fabric I used.  I had it for a baby quilt (my most favorite baby quilt ever) a couple years ago, and have been using up the scraps since then.  I'm sad to say, it's the last of it!  :(  The fabric is called "Cheep Talk" by Connecting Threads.  If they ever re-release that fabric, I'm buying an entire bolt of it!!

I did a quick Google search to try to find ideas of how to make a case, and this was the best one I found - http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2009/12/portable-dvd-player-tote.html .  It's nice, but I thought, I can do better than that!  I wanted it lined, a flap to close it, and places for the 2 screens and DVDs, in addition to the pocket for cables she already had.  And this is what I came up with.  I'm a horrible product photographer (not a great photographer in the first place!), but here's what I ended up with!
The Front of the bag

Pocket on the back

Cords in the Pocket

A Place for everything!
