The Monthly Update

Life is busy!  I knew things would be a bit crazy with two kids, but this is more than I imagined.  I thought I’d get at least some sort of break during the day, but not so much.  My breaks are when I breastfeed Avery.  At least I get to sit down and somewhat relax then – if he feels like nursing well anyways!  ;) And today, I did get to eat lunch without holding a baby or getting up and down a thousand times, however Avery was down the hall screaming.  :(  Poor guy is having a rough day, but hopefully tomorrow will be better!

I feel like the kids have been sick all winter.  A week or so ago I thought we were all getting much better, then Evelyn got way worse.  A couple trips to the pediatrician, and we walked out with a walking pneumonia diagnosis and some antibiotics.  I think she’s doing better now, but she’s still got a wicked cough.  And now Avery’s picked up the cough.  Oh well, that’s life.  He’s not having any trouble breathing, so that’s a plus!
Evelyn decided she wanted to potty train right after Christmas, so we went with it.  She did great for about 3 weeks, and then all of a sudden she did not want to sit on the potty, she wouldn’t tell us when she had to go, and she didn’t care about any rewards we had to offer.  So we’re back to diapers for a while.  Honestly, it’s so much easier for me right now, so I’m glad.  :) We were spending a huge amount of the day just sitting around – waiting for Evelyn to use the potty, then feeding Avery – I feel like things will be easier in a couple months and maybe she’ll be all for it.

Avery is doing well (aside from a couple days of sickness).  It’s so fun to see him growing and doing more.  He’s so expressive most days, and it doesn’t take much for him to laugh.  He’s sleeping well at night – usually about 10 hours – so I get a nice long stretch of sleep, although I’d love if he didn’t wake up before 7, but beggars can’t be choosers!  I’m quite happy with not waking up in the middle of the night.  He doesn’t nap quite as much anymore, but I can usually get one good afternoon nap, which works for us because we’re usually out and about in the mornings.

We’re getting used to the crazy around here, so hopefully it will start getting a little easier.  But for now, we just go with it!
