| On our way to the doctor - poor thing doesn't know what she's in for! |
We've not been up to too much lately. I feel like I clean the house more now, than I ever did before Evelyn was born. Who knows why, but it is nice to have a really clean house most of the time! Except I get so tired during the day, that I try to take a nap when Evelyn does in the afternoon. I tell myself I'll only sleep an hour of her 2 1/2-3 hours nap, and I end up waking up when she does! Oops! It's just more of an incentive to do everything I need to get done in the morning! Today, I even got to read a little! I took my book with me to the hospital, and haven't touched it since I put it in my bag - it was still there! It's a huge book - 1000 pages or so - so a little cumbersome to hold while nursing, and it's not an easy, light-hearted read, so I can't just pick it up here and there. But it's a great book, and I've missed reading it! (The Fiery Cross - part of the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon - I LOVE these books. They're all exceptionally long, but I'm working my way through the series... for the second time!)
I had a wonderful Mother's Day! Carl and Evelyn did great - beautiful flowers & a gift card to my favorite quilting shop! Woo hoo! We went to church, walked around the lake, and watched the airplanes at the airport. All in all a good day!
Evelyn is definitely her father's child. Today, we were walking around the lake and there was some heavy machinery out there doing some repairs, and it was LOUD! Instead of getting upset, Evelyn was just staring at it. Even when we walked by, she was trying to turn around and watch them. Then later on in the parking lot, a big, loud truck drove by, and again, she was just staring. I was telling Carl about that, so he started making truck noises and she LOVED it. About 5 minutes into it, I got out the video camera...
We've got a busy few weeks coming up, so I think we're going to enjoy lying low for a little while. In less than 2 weeks (!!!!!!) I go back to work. It will be strange, that's for sure. But Carl and Evelyn will do great! It's me I'm worried about! (Do I remember how to be a PICU nurse after 3 months off? I sure hope so!) It will definitely be hard not really seeing her for 2 days straight. As long as she has "normal" days, she'll still be asleep when I leave for work, and be in bed (or pretty close to it) by the time I get home! I might have to wake her up a bit, because I don't know if I can go 2 full days without seeing her!
Then, the week after that, Carl, Evelyn, my mom & I are all driving up to Ontario for my cousin's wedding. I'm so excited to see my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins & friends again, and for them to meet Evelyn! Heck, alot of them haven't even met Carl yet! :) Evelyn's passport came today, so she is ready to roll!
