Today, Evelyn Claire was baptized!! We had a beautiful ceremony during Mass this morning, and Evelyn did great! She was a little fussy/hungry at first, but she soon realized that she was in the front row and the center of everyone's attention! My brother, Michael, and my aunt, Laurie are Evelyn's Godparents. Laurie was able to fly down from Ontario for the weekend to celebrate with us, and we're so happy she was here!

The baptism was great. Evelyn didn't cry at all during the baptism itself, and even let Monsignor Tim walk her around the church. She actually started laughing when everyone was clapping for her! I'm sure he was relieved after watching her fuss for the first part of Mass! It's actually kind of funny - she was fussy and just wanted her bottle all before she was baptized, but afterwards, she sat quietly and didn't make a peep! :) She actually passed out at the end of Mass, slept through pictures, and woke up when we took off her dress!

After Mass, we came back to the house and had lunch & talked for a bit. Miss E was in a pretty good mood and had lots of laughs and smiles for everyone! The food was great! I had sandwiches & such delivered, but made the cake. I attempted to make a fancy cake - with raspberry mousse filling and fondant icing. It was a little lopsided ;) but I think it turned out great, and it was delicious!

Evelyn's baptism gown is very special. First off, I made it. Seeing that I haven't made
any clothes since high school, and
never made tiny baby clothes, it was quite the task.
But to make it even better, I made it from my wedding gown. It was something I always wanted to do.

I found a pattern I thought was easy enough, and decided to go for it. The pattern itself was actually pretty easy, but I made it a little more difficult by adding in some alterations to make it look a bit more like my wedding dress. I added the tulle from my veil to overlay the skirt, and added the ribbon overlay from my dress to the waist of her dress. It's not perfect, but I think it turned out great! I've very proud of it, and I know it will be something that we treasure!
Seriously? Best baptism dress ever. Beautiful! Miss E looks adorable too.
