What a week!

This has been such a big week for Evelyn!  She's learning so much, so quickly!  It's funny how some weeks its just status quo, nothing new, and then all of a sudden there's so much going on!!

Last weekend, we went for a ride on a train.  It's a really neat rail yard that is completely kept up by volunteers.  Once a month, they open up the train for the public to ride. It was a little warm out, but when the train was moving, we had some nice breezes!  Evelyn did very well for an hour long ride in the heat!  She sat on her daddy's lap and just watched the trees go by.  It wasn't until the very end she started fussing - and promptly passed out as soon as we got to the car!

We had a nice 4th of July weekend - nothing too exciting.  We cooked out, both here and at my parents, so that was fun.  We didn't get out to see any fireworks though.  The weather was iffy, and I didn't want to keep Evelyn out WAY past her bedtime only to be rained out.  Luckily, our neighbors set off some pretty good fireworks, so after Evelyn was asleep, I was able to sit on the front sidewalk and see some!

Evelyn has been eating up a storm lately.  We started her on rice cereal about 2 weeks ago, and she is just going to town lately!  She loved avocado the first night, but then wasn't so sure about it.  Peaches are the same way.  She LOVES bananas no matter what!

But I'm amazed how much she loves just plain rice cereal. Some nights, she'd rather eat the fruits & vegetables, but others, she practically inhales the rice cereal and wants more!  Last night, I refilled her bowl THREE times!  Silly girl.  I tried to get her started with water in a sippy cup, but its more frustrating for her.  She'll get a few good sucks here and there, but not consistently, so I'll break down and give her a bit of water in a bottle.

Evelyn has wanted to be moving since day one, and that has not changed lately!  I think if she could, she'd stand up and run off!  We set up the inflatable pool outside, and she likes just hanging out in her float.  I sit her up in it, and she lays over the front, and just "walks" herself around the pool.  It's too cute!

I also set up the Johnny Jump-Up.  I thought maybe she wouldn't be steady enough in it, but oh no!  She loves standing in it, walking in circles, and occasionally bouncing!  It's been a great way for me to get things done because I can put it in any doorway and she's happy for a while.  She's almost outgrown the bumbo - not that she's too big for it, but she arches herself up and I know one of these days she'll just pop out of it!  The bouncy seat is funny too - she slides herself to the bottom and plays with her toys AND her feet at the same time!  Silly girl!

Evelyn likes to "talk" alot too.  It seems like she really only does it for me, but she's starting to get more vocal around other people too.  It's really funny.  In this video, we were at my mom's and she was MAD!  I took her into the bathroom to change her, and she just started talking up a storm, happy as could be!

Her big development this week is rolling over.  Over a month ago, when we were in Canada, Evelyn would roll from her back to her belly when she was on a nice, soft bed.  She's been trying to roll on the floor ever since.  The last couple of weeks, she'd get her face buried in the floor, but couldn't quite get her legs over.  Meanwhile, rolling from her tummy to her back was no problem.  Any time I'd lay her down for tummy time, she'd flip right back over.  Well a couple days ago, Evelyn finally figured out how to turn onto her tummy.  And now, EVERY TIME I lay her down - on the floor, on the changing table, in my arms, on the couch, anywhere! - she's trying to roll over.  And then she gets mad because she can't, or won't, roll back to her back.  But as soon as I PUT her on her back, she rolls back over.  Hahaha!  It's very cute to watch!  Last night, she woke up a couple times, and by the time I got in her room, she was on her tummy.  She normally sleeps on her side, so I wonder if she rolls on her tummy while she's sleeping, or not until she wakes up.  I'll have to investigate one of these nights!  ;)

We're having so much fun with Evelyn at this age!  She loves to laugh, and its so much fun seeing her learning so much!
