Evelyn Claire is Six Months Old!!

Today, my sweet baby is six months old!  She is growing so quickly and amazing me every day!  The last couple of weeks have been hard, but seeing her growing and advancing is so worth it.

These darn teeth.  I feel like I've been complaining about them and saying she's teething for three months now!  And there is no end in sight.  Evelyn is constantly chewing on things, and at least a couple times a day just starts crying- bad - for what seems like no reason at all.  I just want these teeth to come on out!  I mean, I can SEE her top teeth just sitting there!  I know the first ones are the worst, but I also know that we'll go through this to some degree with all of them for the next couple of years.  But it will be so worth it to see those teeth finally come in!

Evelyn is really moving around ALOT lately.  She's got the crawling thing down, and she can (and regularly does) crawl from one end of the house to the other in 5 minutes or so.  I feel like she's a Family Circus comic - you know with all the lines following the kid around?  She starts off in a straight line, then does a couple circles, then something shiny catches her eye, then she's back on track.  It's very funny to watch!

Evelyn is also starting to get into everything.  Luckily, our house isn't too bad and there's not too much for her to get into (I'm sure she'll prove us wrong soon), but we did cover all the electrical outlets today.  Carl thinks it's a little early, but I reminded him that she is his child.  ;)  Evelyn's got a few toys all over the house, and there are some of our things, like brushes, spoons, empty bottles, that we let her play with and that seems to keep her content.  She doesn't like to sit too long in places she's supposed to sit - the bumbo, the bouncy seat, the swing - and tries to twist and wiggle her way out.  She's nearly succeeded out of the bouncy seat a few times, so it lives on the floor now.  :)  Luckily, when she's sitting on the floor, she hasn't figured out how to "get down" and will just sit until I pick her up.  She's started to reach further and further, and I know it's only a matter of time before she figures out how to get to her tummy.  She's only had a few falls from sitting, and unless she's really upset or really tired, she's very stable sitting up.  It's nice to know that at least for this week, I can put her on her bum and she'll still be there when I turn around.  Not so much if I lay her down.  ;)

This is what happens to Evelyn in the bouncy seat!
Evelyn is also starting to pull up to standing quite a bit.  She laughs so much every time she pulls up.  It's like "WOW!  Look at all this stuff up here!"  And because of that, we lowered her crib a bit today.  I knew we had to, and I kept thinking I'd wait until she was really pulling up, but guess what.  She's really pulling up, and I knew if she figured out how to do that in her crib, we'd really be in trouble.  I surprised myself and had a bit of a "moment" when we lowered the crib.  My baby's growing up!

Even though Evelyn hasn't been her happy self 100% of the time, she has still been pretty happy most of the time.  It's so cute to see her finding things so entertaining.  Dozer is her best friend right now.  It doesn't matter if she is in the midst of a full on melt down.  If Dozer walks in the room, she's happy, even if just for a moment!  She loves "flying" and being up in the air.  She loves that she is able to move to her toys now.  Things keep her attention for longer, and I can just see her little mind trying to figure out how things work.

Asleep in her crib.  She's getting so big!

Things are good in our house.  I'm loving nearly every bit of being a mom (The 6 - 6:30 am wake up calls don't do much for me, and I'd love for her to nap more than 20 minutes - notice how my complaints are sleep related?!) and my little girl just amazes me.  I just can't believe that she's 6 months old already!  Time to start planning for Christmas and that First Birthday party!  Any ideas?
