She's a happy girl, but can't she sleep?!

Has it really been three weeks since my last post?!  Wow, time is flying!  Next week, Evelyn will be seven months old! She is so so so much fun!  Every day we just play and play and play.  She rarely gets upset, as long as I'm giving her constant attention!  Haha!  But at the same time, she's content playing independently for hours!  She loves just crawling around and checking everything out.  Luckily, there's not too much in our house at her level that she can get into.  Of course her favorite things to play with are the padding around the fireplace and the dog's bowls.  Haha.

Today, she crawled around the house for almost 2 hours, just as happy as could be, while I cooked, baked & cleaned the kitchen.  She came through the kitchen a few times just to check on me, but for the most part she was perfectly content playing on her own.  I'm really enjoying this independent child!  I've had lots of time to work on quilts, clean & bake.  And she's been so happy.  She loves crawling over everything, and just wants to pull up.  A couple of times, she has rolled over while trying to reach up, and just kind of stuns herself, but then, she rolls back over and starts crawling again.

It's amazing how entertaining a spoon can be!

It's a good thing she's been so happy during the day, because sleep at night has been a chore the past week.  Every night is different, but nothing has been great. Luckily, she is taking a couple naps every day, but they only last 20-45 minutes.  But I take what I can get.  At night, she doesn't really want to sleep. Before last week, she would have a bath around 7, and I'd rock her and give her a bottle around 7:15.  Over about 30 minutes, she would drink an ounce or less, and fall asleep.  I'd put her in her crib, and turn out the lights & close the door.  Like clockwork, 30 minutes later, she'd wake up and want the rest of her bottle.  It would take her close to an hour to finish it, but then she'd sleep until 2 or 3, when she would nurse for a few minutes, and then sleep until 7:30 or 8.  I could deal with that.

Happy Girl!
This past week has been crazy in terms of sleep.  Some nights, she goes to bed like normal, then wakes up as I'm laying her down and wants to be wide awake.  Other nights, she won't even take her bottle, she just wants to be wide awake.  We've let her stay awake until 10 or 11, and then she passes out.  The nice part about that is that she would sleep later in the mornings.  Then there were a couple nights she would go to bed just fine, then she'd be awake for 3 hours early in the morning.  That day, she slept in until 10!  Haha.  Last night, she went to be like normal, and woke up twice, but only for 20-30 minutes, before waking up at 8.  I was so thankful for a "normal" night, I didn't care that she woke me up twice!  At least I got to go back to sleep!!

Evelyn is eating just about anything we put in front of her.  Just like me, and my dad, and my grammie, Evelyn LOVES bread.  She balls it up and just goes to town.  She is such a funny girl!  She still doesn't care for green beans, and sweet potatoes are her favorite vegetable.  She'll eat carrots if there's nothing left.  She loves fruits and yogurt.  There's not much that she won't eat.  Most of the time, I have to get out more food for her because she just eats and eats and eats!  We haven't tried too much meat yet, but she doesn't really get too excited about it. Evelyn is still toothless.  She's not even really acting like she's teething anymore, so I give up.  Who knows when those babies will show up!  Oh well.  She can still take a bit out of a soft carrot when she wants to!
Knawing on a chicken bone!

Even though it's too cool to go swimming now, Evelyn loves the water.  A couple times, I've put her in the kitchen sink and turned on the faucet.  She manages to get herself under the water and takes a nice shower.  If this is any indication of how long she'll shower in her teenage years, we better upgrade the water heater!  She just wants to play in the sink forever!

Evelyn's Hot Tub
Evelyn is crawling around everywhere, and trying to pull up.  If she has something low enough to hold onto, she can pull herself up to standing.  Luckily, I haven't found her standing anywhere yet, but I know it's only a matter of time!

We are just having so much fun with Little Miss Evelyn!
