As of yesterday, Evelyn is 7 months old! I really feel like she is "doing" more stuff now. Even in the last week, some of the things she has started doing just amaze me. Like, it's purposeful now, not just moving around. That sounds funny, but she's improving her fine motor skills. Haha. Still no teeth. I give up on those. That way it will be a big surprise when they finally show up! And to think, we were saying she was teething before she was 3 months old! HA!
She's still scooting around everywhere, but she is trying very hard to lift up her belly. Alot of the time when she's not moving, she will push her bottom way up in the air, then figure out how to lower it just a little so she's on her hands & knees. But then as soon as she starts propelling forward, the belly hits the floor. Very cute, but she gets frustrated! However, she can scoot pretty darn fast. She's down the hall and around the corner before I know it!
At dinner time, Evelyn is in control! She has been eating finger foods for a while, so she has that part down, but she did not like the fact that we had the spoon for her oatmeal & yogurt. Now, any time the spoon gets near her mouth, Evelyn grabs it and handles it pretty well! Dozer's gotten a few coats of oatmeal or yogurt, but for the most part, Evelyn puts the spoon right into her mouth. Now if only she could scoop up the next spoonful & she'd be ready to go!
Perhaps my favorite thing that Evelyn is doing now is learning to use her hands better. She's starting to clap, although she hasn't figured out that she needs to open her hands, and every so often I'll get a wave out of her. Some mornings, when I'm not ready to get up yet, I'll bring her into bed with me and play with her there for a while. We play with the sheet like it's a parachute (you know, like elementary school PE?) and hide under it. Then, I'll play peek-a-boo with the sheet. I tickle her and blow raspberries through the sheet and she just cracks up. The other day, she grabbed the edge of the sheet and started pulling it over her head herself. As soon as one of us would say "Where's Evelyn?", she'd lower the sheet and start laughing. And do it again, and again, and again. It was so funny!
The past couple nights in the bathtub, Evelyn has started playing on her belly, then starts doing laps around the bathtub. It is the funniest thing! I think we'll be going to the indoor pool a few times in the next few months, this girl loves water!!
