Where did Summer go?!

Where have the last few months gone?  I feel like just a few weeks ago it was Memorial day, and now Labor day is next week!  Geez!!  We have had alot going on, but I really don't feel like we've been overly busy - it's just been a few big things that make time fly by!

We've mostly stuck close to home this summer.  We went to Myrtle Beach in May, and we're planning on going again in a couple weeks, but during the actual summer - no beach trips.  It's kind of sad, but we haven't really had time for it either!  Evelyn and I went up to Boone for a weekend in July with my parents & brothers.  It was a nice getaway.  We took Evelyn to Tweetsie Railroad, and just generally enjoyed relaxing with our family.  It was nice to all be together and not have to be going somewhere or doing something!

By and large, the biggest stressor of the summer has been Carl and his gallbladder. :)  In July, he spent 5 days in the hospital with gallstones.  He got one big one removed and had to be monitored for a couple days after that.  Then he came home and everything was fine, back to normal.  He scheduled surgery to have his gallbladder out earlier this month, and what was supposed to be a day surgery, take a couple hours type deal turned into 3 more days in the hospital.  That was 2 weeks ago, and while it was very stressful, and difficult to see Carl in so much pain, he's doing great now and is back to normal for the most part!
Bye Mom!  I'm going to Grandma's!
During all this, I was trying to work (because of course these things fall on the 2 days out of every 14 that I work!), keep Evelyn's life somewhat normal, and deal with the stress of my husband being sick.  Oh yea, did I mention I'm pregnant?  ;)  Minor detail there.  Haha!  Luckily, the second time Carl was in the hospital, Evelyn was with Grandma & Grandpa Lindahl, so I didn't have to worry too much about her (that didn't stop me though)!
Evelyn loves to help me bake!
Other than that, we've just been doing our normal thing around here.  Evelyn is talking up a storm.  I can understand much of what she says, but alot of it all sounds the same too!  It's fun to be able to have a conversation with her, not just talk at her.  She is always learning new things.  So many things I have shown her once, and the next time she does it perfectly just like that!  She is so happy most of the time.  It is rare for her to have a fussy day or not be very happy.  She loves to play with her toys and read books.  She will play in the pool for hours, and loves any sort of water.  Dozer is her best friend, and she asks for him as soon as she wakes up in the morning and from naps.  Dozer, aside from loving the supplements to his diet, isn't overly impressed with her ;) but he mostly just gets up and walks away when she's running in his direction!
Even when she doesn't want her picture taken, she's still cute!

Evelyn is all about trucks lately.  She has been for a few months, and that's not changing!  She yells "TRUCK!" every time she sees one on the road.  This week, she's starting yelling when she sees diggers too.  Silly girl!  Her favorite shows to watch are Mighty Machines with any sort of truck or construction equipment.  I wonder where she gets that from!  At the Museum of Life & Science, the only thing that can tear her away from the drums are the trucks!

Evelyn LOVES trucks!
Next up for us is preschool!  Evelyn starts preschool one day a week next week.  I'm looking forward having a morning to myself for at least a couple months!  I'm sure it will be a transition for Evelyn, but I think she will like it in the long run!

As for me, I'm doing pretty good!  I'm about 28 weeks along, and only have 3 months left before Baby Boy will be here!  I'm feeling things much earlier than I had with Evelyn, but I think that's somewhat to be expected!  Evelyn seems to understand that I can't always pick her up, or sometimes Mom just needs to lay down!  I can definitely see how second children can come early, but I'm hoping that this little guy stays put until his due date!
