Come on ride the train!

This morning, we took Evelyn to ride a train!  There is a railway in New Hill (south of Apex) that offers monthly train rides.  We took her last July, when she was 4 months old, and she didn't get too upset then.  Now, she is all about things that go - cars, trucks, airplanes, and trains.  When I asked her if she wanted to go on a train ride, she lit up and said "CHOO CHOO!"

Checking out the big engines
When we went last year, it was 4th of July weekend and hot as all get out - probably 100 degrees if not close to it.  This morning was a complete 180!  It was pouring rain when we left home and 50 degrees.  Luckily the rain stopped by the time we got to the railway, and it was a bit chilly, but we were prepared, so it was actually a nice trip!
All of us
They have a pretty big "garden" railroad with a bunch of model-size trains.  Evelyn LOVED watching those.  We had to pick her up to go see the big trains!  She enjoyed walking around the rail yard and seeing all the trains and cars, but she was a little hesitant to get near the engines making noise.  There was a coal-powered steam engine that made lots of noise, and Evelyn didn't like that too much.  She did like watching the steam and smoke roll out though.

The train we rode on was pulled by a diesel electric, so much quieter for Evelyn.  She seemed to prefer that.  She had fun watching the trees and forest go by on the outbound ride.  She was so interested in everything going on.  To turn around, the engine just switched sides, and came around and hooked up to the back of the train.  Since we were close to the back, it meant that we were much closer to the engine on the return trip.  Not so bad, until the conductor blew the horn.  It was a bit too loud for Evelyn, and she really didn't like it.  I tried to guess when he would blow it and cover her ears, but needless to say, the return trip was not as enjoyable for her.  Me, on the other hand, I was sad to see my sweet girl upset, but I was loving the snuggles I was getting from my too-busy-to-snuggle girl!

"Bye!"
Once we got back to the railyard, Evelyn wanted to watch the model trains for a while.  There was a little Mickey Mouse car that she was crazy about.  There was a Thomas train that she would get excited for, but she really just liked watching the trains go around.  I'm sure Carl wouldn't mind getting one of those "for Evelyn"!  Haha!

Overall, we had fun!  Evelyn is so inquisitive and it's fun to see her get excited about things.

Everything else is going well around here.  We had "moving day" yesterday, and moved some rooms around to make room for baby.  It's working out well so far.  The former-office-soon-to-be-nursery is quite a mess right now, but I'm not in too much of a rush to get it cleaned out.  It will be a couple weeks before we can paint and such anyways! I'm almost 34 weeks, so about a month & a half left!  Crazy!
