Avery's Birthday Party

A few days early, yesterday we celebrated Avery's first birthday with our friends and family.  We are so thankful to have such an awesome group of people to celebrate with.  It was a great day had by all!  Both Avery and Evelyn have been battling the sniffles all week (or month....), so I was hopeful we'd have happy kids today, and for the most part, we did!  Evelyn wasn't a huge fan of sharing her swing, but for the most part she was a great little hostess - Thank goodness because I was running around trying to get things set up for a while into the party!  :)  Avery enjoyed hanging out with Carl and I and the grandparents.  He just kind of did his own thing and kept quiet.

We had a beautiful day and the kids enjoyed playing outside in the sand box, checking out the back yard, and playing on the swing set.  We had great food and it was fun visiting with everyone.  Evelyn and cousin Tayler were a big help to Avery opening his presents. 

Avery wasn't too sure about his cake.  He's had cake before and enjoyed it, but I'm not sure he was up to being the center of attention!  He just kind of picked at his cake for the longest time.  There was a bulldozer on it, so he finally got a hold of that and started playing.  Silly boy!  The upside of that is he didn't make much of a mess!  Haha!
