The Fourth Trimester

Baby Girl has done quite a bit of nursing and sleeping on mommy this week, so I've had tons of time to read about all these little quirks and things she's been showing us. And Evelyn is definitely experiencing some of this "Fourth Trimester" stuff. Newborns aren't used to the quiet, and general lack of stimulation that this world offers in comparison to before she was born. She's used to the constant movement and wooshing sounds inside. So it shouldn't have been too much of a surprise that after the first few days of adjusting to her new world, Miss E decided she doesn't particularly care for sleeping in her bassinet quietly. :)

She likes to see whats going on. If there are new people - other than boring old Mom & Dad - around, she will not sleep, no matter what! That made her newborn photos exciting. She wants to be in the middle of everything. And when she is ready to go to sleep, I better be sure she is OUT before lying her in the bassinet, otherwise 2 minutes later she's fussing, wanting to be rocked back to sleep. But I'm not complaining! It's to be expected, and other than that, she's an excellent baby. She loves being wrapped up with me in the Moby - its where she does most of her daytime napping. She's great in the carseat. And she loves to eat! I have been so thankful that she is such a good eater - we really have not had any problems in that department!

Like I said earlier, Evelyn loves visitors. Her great-grandparents (my grandparents) came over to visit last week, and until the very end of their visit, she was perfect! She was wide awake, looking around, wanting to take it all in. At like 10 days old. She amazes me!

When she does get mad, it's almost entertaining. I have to remind myself how young she still is, because she does not act like she's not even 2 weeks old! We got this picture the other night when she was mad as fire! She was pushing her legs up and holding her head up on her own. Unless she's super tired, she's been doing a good job of holding her head up for a few seconds at a time.

When she's in the Moby wrap, she HATES having her head supported. She holds it up pretty well until she falls asleep. And then...

Floppy baby!

Yesterday, we went and had lunch with my friend Katherine, and her girls Eleanor & Ruby. Ellie didn't want to get in the picture (she's 2), but we had to get a picture of the first time the girls "met." Ruby is 2 1/2 months older than Evelyn. It will be fun to see them grow up together! Ellie was too funny - fascinated with Evelyn - or "Ewa-win"! In the matter of a few minutes, I went from "Allie" to "Evelyn's Mommy". Haha... I guess I should get used to that!

Today's been a pretty good day.  After deciding she wanted to be wide awake at 5:30 this morning, we all slept until after 10.  It was wonderful!  We took it easy this morning and walked around outside for a while, enjoying this beautiful weather.  We all went to the mall for a little while to walk around.  Funny thing, there was a huge line up of people, most of them with kids.  I figured it was the Easter Bunny or something.  I couldn't see through the crowd, but we went upstairs and I was able to look down.  Nope, not the Easter Bunny.  AC Slater.  Baby girl's first trip to the mall and we see AC Slater.  Ha.  Now she's sleeping in the bouncy seat while dinner's cooking and I'm pounding away at this.  Overall a nice day.  The only thing that could make it better is a little ice cream later on.  ;)
