Evelyn has been talking up a storm today!
The last few days, she has been not so happy. I blame that on the fact that her longest nap in those 3 days was 2 hours - and most were in the 30-45 minute range. Not nearly long enough for a 6 week old! However, she's been sleeping great at night - still 6-8 hours at a time, then up for a snack, and back to sleep for 3 more hours. It's usually pretty nice! However, we have a routine at bedtime, which is why I think she sleeps so well. We give her a bath, super swaddle her (with 2 blankets - one just for her arms! Otherwise she'd be out of it in 10 seconds flat!), I feed her/let her nurse for about an hour as she's falling asleep, then lay her down in her crib. Only once in 2 weeks of doing this has she not slept forever after our routine.
Naptime is a different story. I don't put her down for her naps in her crib. I prefer to put her in the swing or lay her on our bed if I'm taking a nap too. I want her to know that there's a difference between night time and nap time. But does a 6 week old really know the difference? Who know - but I'd rather her be awake during the day than not sleep well at night, and I don't want to mess up what we have at night.
However, for naptimes today, I've been swaddling her (just a basic swaddle), and it seems to be working well. She slept 3 hours this morning, and has been asleep for an hour & a half now! Woo hoo! That's more than she's napped total Sunday-Tuesday! I was able to sew a bit and actually finished a project!
And when she's awake - Evelyn is SOOOO happy! I love it! She's been really verbal today, and has been making sounds I haven't heard before! It's amazing! She's had the video camera or my iPhone in her face almost all day! Hahaha - but she's so cute! Sorry she's sideways, but hopefully my video will work well!
