One Month Old

It is so hard to believe that Evelyn Claire is one month old today!!  As much as I say it feels like she's been here forever, it will be hard to comprehend that she's not a newborn anymore!  But even in the last few days, she's grown so much!  We've had such a fun weekend too!

Yesterday, Grandma Ann (my mom) had a "Meet Evelyn" shower.  I was very nervous that she would be a fussy baby, but she did wonderful!  She was wide awake at first, then slept in quite a few people's arms!  She kept getting passed about, and was pretty content for almost 4 hours!  She got a little fussy here and there, but after a little Mommy time was much happier!  ;)  She met lots of friends & family, and got so many great gifts!  We're so thankful to have such great friends & family!!

Today, we managed to get up and go to church for the first time.  Again, I was a bit nervous Evelyn would fuss the whole time!  We sat in the "cry room", but really, we didn't even need to.  She was perfect the whole time, mostly sleeping, but awake & content for a few minutes!  She didn't mind the loud singing or praying, or the other kids making noise.  What a good baby!

This afternoon, she got tired of being the perfect baby!  We went to her friend Ruby Kate's 101st Day Party, and Evelyn decided to be a bit fussy!  She started as soon as we got there, and kept it up even after some mommy time.  Haha.  Luckily, she gave us a few minutes to enjoy some ice cream & hang out with Katy, Jason, Eleanor & Ruby Kate for a little while!  Even though Eleanor has her "own" baby at home, she LOVES Evelyn!  She's so funny!  She ran off from the party, and when Katy asked her why, she said "Evawyn's cwying!"  It was too cute!

Evelyn has just amazed me this week.  It's so neat to see that she's not a newborn anymore.  She wants to be interacted with, and cries when she's bored.  She doesn't sleep much during the day, and prefers to be awake, looking around, and checking out the world.  I spend a huge amount of my day walking around the house and the yard just talking to Evelyn.  She enjoys her play mat a bit more, and really focuses on noises and lights.  The best part of my week has been the smiles I get when she looks at me, especially right after she wakes up!

She's sleeping a bit longer at night - usually one stretch of 4-5 hours, then back to the 2-3 hours stretches.  She likes to get up for the day between 5 and 7.  I try my best to stretch that out to 8 or 9, but it's just easier to get up and play instead of getting up every hour to feed just so I can "sleep in".  We've gotten a bit of a routine down, and she does really well if we keep to it, even if we're out and about.

Evelyn's holding her head up pretty well now, even though she still has a bit of a bobble to it and gets tired at times.  She still hates tummy time, and ends up kicking herself around in circles.

It's easier for me to tell the difference in her cries now, and I think I've gotten pretty good at being able to tell what she wants most of the time.  Granted, there are still times she just wants to fuss, but it's neither as overwhelming as it once was, or as frequent.

My little girl has just amazed me the last month.  I can't wait to see what she surprises me with next!!
