Smart girl!!

I just have to take a minute to brag on my awesome child.  She really does amaze me every day!  Being somewhere around 2-3 weeks away from having a baby, I can't say I've been the best parent lately.  We have alot of lazy days, we'll play, but I don't really come up with anything insightful or stimulating to keep Evelyn entertained.  Lots of coloring, reading books and playing with baby dolls.  And just to add to my awesome mom status, lots of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, Thomas the Tank Engine & Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  MMC is on my phone, and Evelyn has learned how to use the other apps I have for her very well.  I do have some silly apps - Elmo Facetime (shoot me... why did I PAY for that one?!), Ben the Talking Dog - but most of the apps have at least some educational value.  And apparently, Evelyn is actually learning from them.

At dinner, Carl and I usually read the newspaper, and Evelyn likes to look at the ads.  Last night, she was pointing at a grocery ad and I couldn't really tell what she was saying.  I thought it was maybe a peach, and she looked at me like I was dumb and pointed and said "EIGHT!" clear as day.  At the number 8.  And then went on to point to and say "Nine! Two!  Seven!"  We count things, and we read books, but I don't think I have ever sat down with her and pointed to numbers to show them what they look like.  But there's an app on my phone that does that!

It just blew my mind that my 20 month old knows numbers.  She also knows about 10 letters, but we do actually work on that sometimes.  While I don't like the days that I entertain her with screen time, it's nice to know when I'm having a hard day, it's not making her stupid.  :)
